Middle school resource officer shoots student with stun gun during demonstration (Video)

An 8 year veteran of the Tempe, AZ., police department assigned as a resource officer at Gililland Middle School has been reassigned due to a partial stun gun shooting incident involving a student.
The unnamed officer was conducting a class presentation when her department issued taser gun discharged and struck a student in the arm - one of the probes hit a wall behind the student. No current was discharged, but the student was taken to the hospital to remove the probe from her arm.
According to AZCentral, while teaching a class of eighth-graders about bullying when one student asked about the stun gun which lead to a discussion about its use.
The officer took out the stun gun and accidentally discharged it, releasing two hook-tipped probes, Detective Mike Pooley said. One probe went into a wall and the other went into a 14-year-old girl’s left forearm.
The girl was taken to a hospital to have the probe properly removed, Pooley said.
The incident is currently being investigated by Tempe police.
