A new version of cryptolocker has emerged that affects Android systems.
Dubbed Android/Simplocker by ESET, the malware scans the SD card in a handset for certain types of file, encrypts them, and demands a ransom to decrypt the data.
Unlike Cryptolocker, this malware only demands about $21 dollars to unlock your system.
It's not immediately clear how the malware spreads. Eset found the sample in an application called "Sex xionix" - which suggests the malware is a Trojan that poses as a legit smut-viewing app.
A full write-up of the threat can be found in a blog post by ESET here.
