New on MajorGeeks: Zero Install

Zero Install is designed for allowing you to download, update, run, synchronize all your favorite programs from one interface without the need to install them.

While it's easy to use, a tutorial video is provided on the first run to ensure you are up to speed. Many popular apps are listed by default, but you can also run a keyword search, enter a news feed, URL of a catalog, or create a new feed. We found adding our custom feed to be a bit of a pain.

You will find two tabs - Catalog and My Applications. This separates browsing from the apps you use.

You can run, use setup integration, and run as a command-line if you like any particular app from either tab.

A handful of options are also available to get it how you want. Cache management, portable creator, and command-line links are available at the bottom.

Zero Install is perfect for anyone who uses a lot of apps because you don't need a messy desktop, fat and bloated registry, startup items and all the problems that come with installing large amounts of software. Zero Install is also an effortless, safe way to try out software. We'd like the ability to watch feeds from websites including MajorGeeks to look for new and updated software, but we're a bit biased. We might have done things a tad different but they've done a fine job here.
