North Carolina councilman offers resignation in Klingon

Posted by: Jon Ben-Mayor on 01/05/2014 09:01 AM [ comments Comments ]

An Indian Trail, NC., councilman offered his resignation in the most fantastically geeky manner possible - his letter was written in Klingon.

Waddell cited long-simmering clashes with the town manager and frustration with what he called cronyism and secrecy.

But because Mayor Michael Alvarez is "a little bit of a Trekkie, also," Waddell told NBC News, he decided to break the news to him in Klingon — the language of the deadly enemy-turned-ally-turned-enemy race in the "Star Trek" universe of TV series and movies.

Waddell, often a minority voice on the council, said he plans to mount a campaign on the Constitution Party's platform for U.S. Democratic Senator Kay Hagan's seat, according to Reuters.

"I am going away, (but) I'm not done fighting," he said.

The Mayor did offer his own Trekkie remark on the departure of Waddell, he said "Live long and prosper!" What a town!

You do have to give him some credit for writing the whole statement in Klingon; all I know how to say is: Hab SoSlI' Quch! - which translates to: your mother has a smooth forehead! :)
