A NYC man who responded to an advertisement on Craigslist was robbed of $1,100 in bitcoins. The 28-year-old victim was meeting a man who offered to buy the digital currency.
The robber forced the victim to his car where another man held a gun to the victim and forced him to transfer the bitcoins on his cell phone.
Once the transfer was made, the thieves stole the victim's cell phone and drove off, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
According to the Observer, this was not the first such robbery. Another NYC man was victimized in a similar manner and had $8,500 worth of Bitcoin, $3,500 cash and his phone stolen in January.
