It only took a week for the Office for iPad to reach 12 million downloads. Microsoft's three productivity apps - Word, Excel and Powerpoint - are offered as separate downloads for the iPad.

Of course, if you want to do anything with any of the apps, you need to purchase a subscription to Office 365 at a cost of $100 per year. That will give you the right to use Office on up to 5 PCs, as well as 5 tablets (Windows or iPad), the iPhone, and Android phones.
Sometime this spring Microsoft will release its Office personal version that will cost $70 and give the user the right to install it on one PC and one tablet.
In the iTunes review section, the chief complaint is that Microsoft didn't go far enough in creating a functioning Office suite for iPad. Users cite problems such as no Dropbox integration and lack of printing support.
