TechBargains.com, a leading deal aggregation website for electronic products, released results from its iPad / iPad Mini Predictions survey revealing consumers want a boost in power and performance from Apple’s tablets. Longer battery life is a feature 87% of respondents want from the next iPad Mini and 86% want from the next iPad. 85% of those surveyed want a faster processor for both the iPad and iPad Mini. About three in four (77%) would like a retina display for the iPad Mini, a feature currently available in iPad third and fourth generations. For the iPad Mini, 76% want a USB Port, 71% want better speakers, 53% desire the tablet to be lighter, 48% want it to be thinner and 47% hope for multiple user accounts. For the iPad, 80% want a USB Port, 74% want better speakers, 63% desire the tablet to be lighter, 57% want it to be thinner and 50% desire multiple user accounts.

“Before it was introduced the iPad Mini received lackluster interest in comparison to other Apple products, according to a previous TechBargains’ survey,” said Yung Trang, president and editor-in-chief of TechBargains.com. “Once consumers got their hands on it and saw the value, our recent data shows popularity for the iPad Mini has nearly doubled.”

One in three (33%) surveyed consumers plan to purchase the next generation iPad Mini, 41% are undecided and 26% aren’t interested. Interest in the next iPad matched that of the iPad Mini. 22% of respondents plan to purchase both. This is a substantial increase in interest for the iPad Mini compared to TechBargains.com’s survey in September, which gauged consumer interest before the smaller tablet was officially announced. Then 18% planned to purchase the iPad Mini, 32% were undecided and 50% weren’t interested. However, the data reveals a decrease in interest for the iPad compared to TechBargains.com’s survey in February 2012, before the iPad third generation was announced. Then 48% planned to buy the iPad, 35% were undecided and 17% did not plan to purchase the tablet.

The survey was conducted on TechBargains.com in February and had 889 respondents. 26% of respondents do not own a tablet and 76% own one or more iPad, iPad Mini, Android or Windows tablets.
