Apple will be going live today at 1:00 PM EST with their new product launch and we are expecting to see what’s new but let’s be honest – we are waiting to see where Apple goes with the new iPhone 6.
As someone who uses both products I have recently changed to a Samsung Note 3, mostly for the bigger screen. The iPhone to me almost looks like a flip phone in comparison. It’s small and becoming dated (that’s technology for you) and needs this update to be huge. I mean huge in both size and features. While many I spoke with (mostly woman) are happy with the iPhone’s current size (it fits nicely in purses and pockets) many people are also interested in the larger screens, known as Phablets because they are bigger than a phone and smaller than a tablet. I haven’t touched a tablet since I bought the Samsung Note myself.

Everyone is always talking about innovating. The iPhone could use some new features but it almost seems to me like Samsung went so fast that the phone has more features than I would use, or want which keeps the iPhone on my radar. Anyone who is on MajorGeeks remembers how fast computers matured in about 10 years. Well, cell phones and tablets matured faster (the iPhone is now 7 years old) and IMHO it’s time to slow it down. Back in the day I would build a new PC every year and often update new hardware in between. Now my PC is so fast with an i5 processor, 8 GB ram and a SSD drive that I have been using this one for 2 years or more now with no need to update or replace it.
Cell phones and tablets repeated this cycle. Every year the newest and greatest mobile device came out and those of us who love tech had to have it. Fast forward 7 years and what else can they add? For me, it’s time to offer different sizes, plain and simple. Not different colors that you cover up anyway with a case but truly functional in size and shape.
Oh yeah, could we maybe get a smartphone that makes and receives crystal clear phone calls?
Not THAT would be innovation.
