Ottawa Hospital Defeats Ransomware Attack

The Ottawa Hospital has announced that they have fended off a ransomware attack.

The Hospital discovered the attack rather quickly and isolated their computers, which kept the attackers from stealing patient information or demanding a payment.

The Hospital has 9,800 computers and four of its 9,800 computers were infected with the malware that effectively locked down the machines making it impossible for workers to access any of the stored files.

As usual, the ransomware made its inroads because a worker clicked on a malicious link.
