Apple mobile users need to be aware of a new phishing scam that uses SMS messages.
The scam sends a message that the users Apple account will be locked. If the victim clicks on the link, it takes them to another phishing site where they are prompted to enter their personal info.
The announcement comes from researchers at Intel Security Mobile Research and explains that the message alleges to be an email, but the shortened URL points to a PHP file in a hacked website. Once clicked on, the victim is sent to a hacked website where the victim is supposed to confirm their account info.
The site says that if you don't reply by July 28th, your account will be frozen. Unfortunately, around 1,700 users were duped.
McAfee advised that: "Do some research and save yourself a lot of grief."
