There's a pretty funny game out there that has been having its run of viral videos of late. The game is called, Pie in the Face. It's a simple game, made with a plastic hand that you load with shaving cream, whipped cream or whatever you fancy being flung into you or your friends 'pie hole'. Opponents take turns spinning the number wheel to determine their number of rotations. They then place their face on the machine and turn the handle the number of times of their spin. The release mechanism is some random amount form 1 to whatever. Eventually one unlucky player is taking a pie to the face. They even include a cardboard cutout to stick your face into to make you look just a little more silly....Nice touch. Think of it as the Ice Bucket Challenge combined with russian roulette and mixed with a condiment.
Like any Dad, after seeing this video, I figured this would be a riot to set it up for my kid and his friends and went to search out a copy on Amazon. I found one copy left for $149.99! Clearly thats a rip off. So I headed over to EBay and found $149 was cheap. They have one for $199.00 and another asking $3,999.99 (min bid $499)and they don't even offer free shipping! I'm sure more will come in and drive the price down soon, but clearly the world has gone mad!
So what do you do if you have a hankering for this game and don't have an extra grand laying around? Here's what. Grab a Random Number Generator to get a "action" number and a third player. Roll a dice. (If you happen to have a 10 sided dice laying around -- give yourself 15 geek points) Asked the third player to keep adding the number from the dice rolls until the your reach the "action" number. At that point the third player yells something like "INCOMING!" and you then use your real hand to slap a fist full of pie into the face of your friend. This will be a lot cheaper and more satisfying....If you win, of course.
I then recommend you take your savings down to the local mart and get a real pie to celebrate. If you're lucky enough have a Trader Joe's near by, splurge for the Quintessential Berry Crumb Pie, it's worth it.
Hope you enjoyed this public service announcement -- now get out there and eat pie!
