Pirate Bay Serving Up Malware

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 05/10/2016 10:49 AM [ comments Comments ]

According to DNA India, millions of users of Pirate Bay may be unaware that along with their file download they are also downloading malware that could be stealing their banking info.

In spite of numerous lawsuits, the P2P website is still downloading movies, tv shows and video games.

However, users who are accessing the site with Chrome or Mozilla are receiving malware warnings because Google's Safe Browsing is flagging the site. The warning advised users that the site was a web forgery and might trick them into revealing personal and financial information.

Users are seeing this warning because this type of warning pops up when an ad network is compromised and malicious ads are sent. It means that one of Pirate Bays third-party pages is suspected of serving up malware.

As of Monday, Pirate Bay is operating as usual.
