A single engine Cessna crashed at the Nashville International Airport at around 3 am - the plane lay just off the runway for hours; only being discovered by another plane taxiing for takeoff at about 9 am.
According to the report from WTVF, NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson said investigators believe the Cessna 172 single-engine plane crashed sometime in the early-morning hours after 3 a.m. But the crash apparently wasn't reported until a pilot in another plane saw the wreckage around 9 a.m.
Officials said the pilot never radioed the control tower, which is required at BNA, but not at smaller airports in the region.

The Transport Canada website shows the plane was last registered to the Windsor Flying Club in Ontario, Canada.
Knudson said investigators haven't had a chance yet to listen to air traffic control tapes.
He said only the pilot was aboard the plane, and it appears the plane burned after the crash.
Other runways remained open at the airport, and operations there weren't affected.
The Federal Aviation Administration is also investigating.
