A small plane was able to successfully make an emergency landing at Martins Bay beach, on the Mahurangi Peninsula, New Zealand. The plane's engine cut out due to a fuel transfer problem between the wings.
Pilot Dennis Horne made the perfect dead-stick landing on the south section of the beach which was empty at the time.
Martins Bay Holiday Park manager Linda Brickland told Stiff.co.nz, that luckily the 500 to 600 children on the beach were clustered together at a sandcastle competition.
Horne said he and his passenger transferred fuel from one wing to the other, but when they tried to take off again they contacted the water, causing the plane to "nosedive" into the sand, breaking its propeller and damaging its wing.
The throngs of children thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
One out of two isn't bad, right?
