PlayStation Network and Xbox Live targeted by hackers

Hackers from the Lizard Squad are making sure that they are on the naughty list and effectively ruining Christmas day for some users via an alleged DDoS attack.

According to Gizmodo, the group is claiming that they downed both services, and won't stop until they get 10,000 retweets on one of their inane ramblings.

In this case, it looks like the logon systems are the weak point, since both PSN and Xbox Live are reporting that users are having trouble signing in.

Xbox had this message for users attempting to login: We’re aware that some of you are experiencing trouble signing in to Xbox Live, and we want you to know we’re working to address this as quickly as we possibly can. Thanks for your patience!

The PlayStation Network followed with a similar message which reads: We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulty logging into the PSN. We will update this article with any changes that occur in regards to this issue. Thank you for your patience.

At the time of this post both services are still experiencing problems.

Don't fear if you are unable to use one of those services - you can always take a look through our PC Games category and download something fun to hold you over! :)
