The mobile phenomenon which is Pokemon GO was shuttered Saturday due to a DDoS attack by a new group of hackers called the PoodleCorp.
It seems their main objective was to get a reaction from players which succeeded with lots of vitriol posted on both Reddit and Twitter.
The Pokemon servers were back on line within a few hours. Nintendo then announced that it was expanding the game to 26 more countries. Pokemon Go will be able to be played in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland.
This new group of hackers have only been active since June 22, according to their website, and have taken their skills to launch DDoS attacks on StreamMe, Battle.NET, and League of Legends servers.
As of this writing, Pokeymon servers are again offline due to a new DDoS attack by the hacking group OurMine.
