MalwareBytes recently discovered a trojan on the popular porn site xHamster.
MalwareBytes believes it is another example of malvertising. Malvertising is when an attacker places malware inside a Web ad.
It's a particularly insidious attack because it doesn't require victims to take unusual behavior to become infected; they just need to navigate to a website that's serving the malicious ad.
According to the Register, the porn site is a perfect target because it has more than 500 million visitors a month. Attackers realize that those infected probably won't report the attack because of the stigma associated with visiting a porn site.
Installing ad and script blocking plugins for your browser can also help defend against these attacks.
