Many Facebook users were surprised to find graphic pornographic and violent images in their news feeds this week, following a widespread spam attack. The company said that it now has the issue under control.

We can save you some trouble here by giving the same advice we have given for years. The The Washington Post article only offers a few suggestions as well.
Slow down and look at links before you click them. Better yet, don't click them at all. Be careful what applications you allow. It's really that simple.
