Lewis Allan "Lou" Reed was an American rock musician, songwriter, and photographer. He was best known as guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter of The Velvet Underground, and for his solo career, which spanned several decades.
After his departure from the group, Reed began a solo career in 1972. He had a hit the following year with "Walk on the Wild Side."
The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but according to Rolling Stone, Reed underwent a liver transplant in May.
** NBC CT reports that the cause of death was an ailment related to his recent liver transplant, according to his literary agent, Andrew Wylie, who added that Reed had been in frail health for months. Reed shared a home in Southampton with his wife and fellow musician, Laurie Anderson, whom he married in 2008.
Sunday morning will never be the same......
