Sadly, I can attest to this. One Thanksgiving a bunch of us used a turkey fryer in the driveway of my friend's house. Fire departments were dispatched (many conciliatory beers were enjoyed) due to the entire driveway being on fire. Fun times!

Safety note here: Not only is it important to not overfill the canister but you should also make sure that the turkey is entirely thawed out. Ice crystals + boiling oil = fi-yah! Lesson learned!
