Ransomware-as-a-Service Takes 20%

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 08/17/2016 10:59 AM [ comments Comments ]

There is a new ransomware that is being peddled as a Ransomware-as-a-service that takes a 20% cut of the proceeds.

Known as Shark, the developers have created a professional looking website. They also provide instructions on how to download and customize the malware. The creators also boast that it is fully customizable, uses a fast encryption algorithm, supports multiple languages, and is “undetectable” by antivirus software.

The customization includes the type of files the ransomware should encrypt as well as the amount the ransom demands. Plus the hacker can enter an email address so that they can track when a system has been infected.

Payment goes to the creators who then promise to send the hacker 80% of the proceeds.
