Martin Landau, who gained fame in the 1960s TV show "Mission: Impossible," then capped a long and versatile career with an Oscar for his portrayal of aging horror movie star Bela Lugosi in 1994's "Ed Wood," has died. He was 89.
Landau was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 20, 1928, the son of Selma (née Buchman) and Morris Landau. His family was Jewish; his father, an Austrian-born machinist, scrambled to rescue relatives from the Nazis.
