The Romanian hacker, Marcel Lazar, was extradited from Romania, faced charges of hacking into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's private email server when she was Secretary of State.
Going by the internet name of Guccifer, Lazar pleaded guilty in federal court to a number of charges last May. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 52 months in the federal penitentiary.
Although the authorities are still skeptical that he breached Clintons server, it is believed that over a two year period, he also hacked former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Clinton White House aide Sidney Blumenthal and scores of others beginning in 2012.
