The creator of The Silk Road, Ross Ulbricht, is appealing his conviction.
Ulbricht was sentence to life in prison for his role in the web site that involved illegal drugs and other nefarious activities. However, his appeal is based on the allegations that investigators were corrupt during their investigation.
Members of the Baltimore Silk Road task force were indicted in March on charges of money laundering, wire fraud and theft of government property all while pursuing Ulbricht.
Defense attorneys found out about the corruption a month before the trial, but prosecutors were already working on having the information inadmissible in court.
It has been alleged that agents had tried to steal and convert bitcoins for their own use. One agent was said to have created multiple identities to engage in illegal activities for personal financial gain.
