An alleged Russian hacker, Stanislav Lisov, who is wanted by the U.S. authorities, has been arrested in Spain and is awaiting extradition to the states to face fraud charges.
Lisov, who is a computer programmer, "is accused of conspiracy to commit fraud via electronic media and conspiracy to commit fraud and abuse with computers."
Because he does not live in Spain, a judge in Madrid's National Court jailed him because of his being a flight risk and due to the "gravity of the offences." The judge presides over a court which deals with suspected crimes that have an international remit.
Lisov was attempting to flee the country when he was arrested. "Now begins the process of extradition to the United States," the National Court spokesman said, without giving further details.
