Samsung following Apple’s lead bringing 64-bit processors to the next generation of phones and tablets

Samsung is now promising 64-bit chips in their phones following Apple’s announcement (claims) that they are the first phone to use a 64-bit processor.

The 64-bit processor allows their smartphones and tablets to go beyond the 32-bit limit of 4 GB of ram and could bring better performance. Of course Android is still a 32-bit operating system so that would be the only advantage unless the operating system is upgraded to 64-bit. The extra memory would be helpful in their larger products like the Galaxy Mega.

There is no timeline for when this will happen but since it is a hardware thing, one can safely assume the next generation of phones and tablets from Samsung.
