A science project has landed a pair of Seattle boys in the hospital suffering from fragmentation wounds; the blast was strong enough to burst windows out and blow the back door open, leaving the backyard strewn with debris.
The boys were working on a model rocket project for school and it is believed that one of the youths used some of the model rocket fuel in an attempt to build a fire in the homes fireplace when the explosion occurred.
According to the report on CNN.com, the boys, who are cousins, suffered wounds from the blast and were both transported to the hospital.
Investigators sifted through the living room and found several homemade fireworks bottle rockets, small aerial display mortars and a skyrocket.
The pair are in serious condition but are expected to survive.
