Silk Road 2.0 busted

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 12/24/2013 05:31 PM [ comments Comments ]

According to reports by Forbes and TechCrunch, the FBI have arrested two moderators of the underground site. Going by the handles "Inigo" and "Libertas", the forum moderators were reportedly arrested in Virginia and Wicklow, Ireland, respectively.

What is noteworthy is the reaction by some of the users of Silk Road 2.0 (apparently some of the drug users thought that the new version would be any safer from law enforcement than the original). The evidence brought forth in the interview with the FBI was one of surprise:

"When I was in the interview they showed me all sorts of sh*t that they should not know or have access to ... Something is definitely wrong and they have the ability to see things on here only mods or admins should like transfers and a dispute I had," a users whom authorities believe was "Inigo" reported.

Prosecutors are still going through the info that they found during the original bust of Silk Road back in October. Four alleged dealers of methamphetamine were arrested just this week in Oregon.
