The U.S. Department of Justice said Friday that Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht will be held without bail until he goes to trial in November. He was arraigned Friday at the U.S. Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan.
A spokeswoman at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said that on Feb. 27th, the government will provide the defense with data from computers that were seized during the investigation.
Forbes reported on Friday that prosecutors said they also have between eight and 10 terabytes of data that they will share with defense attorneys.
Ulbricht is being held at a detention center in Brooklyn.
The indictment includes charges of narcotics conspiracy, as well as computer hacking and money laundering charges. The narcotics charge can carry a minimum sentence of 10-years and a max of life.
It is alleged that payments for drugs were made with Bitcoins. The government seized more than US$150 million worth of bitcoins in the course of the investigation.
Although the site was shut down in October, a new site, Silk Road 2.0 emerged in December. Some of the moderators for the new site were arrested by authorities in December.
