A man in Nashville, TN., was "playing around" with a gun in his apartment when he accidentally shot his downstairs neighbor through the shoulder when the gun discharged unexpectedly.
According to the report in the Tennessean, David White, 22, was charged with reckless endangerment, marijuana possession and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
White, who lives in the apartment above the woman accidentally shot his gun through the floor at about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to Nashville police Captain Kenneth Walburn. The woman was seriously injured by the gunshot.
The bullet hit Heather Goutremont in her shoulder while she was asleep in her bed, according to White's arrest warrant. Goutremont suffered "significant damage," the warrant said.
She was taken from her Hickory Hill Lane apartment to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was in stable condition early this morning, Walburn said.
