Sophos poll reveals widespread concern over Facebook Timeline

Like the new Timeline feature on Faceobok? I hope so because it is about to become part of Facebook, whether you like it or not according to Security company Sophos:

” In the next few weeks, every Facebook account will be updated with the new-look profile, presenting a scrapbook of all of your past status updates and photographs.”

Sophos asked 4,000 Facebook users what they thought with the following results:

- 51.29% are worried about it
- 32.36% wonder why they are still on Facebook
- 8.39% guess they will get used to it
- 7.96% say they like it.

Sophos does admit that the people they polled, much like Majorgeeks readers, are more security conscious so the negative numbers might be high.

Finally, Sophos ends their blog post with the following:

”But, if nothing else, use this opportunity to re-evaluate what you share online, spring clean your Facebook account and online friend relationships, and ensure that you are only sharing what you want to share, with who you want to share it with.

If you do decide to stay on Facebook, and want to get an early warning about privacy issues, the latest security threats and scams, be sure to join the Sophos Facebook page where we have a thriving community of over 160,000 people.”

Majorgeeks is running the same poll on it's Facebook page
