Emeil Stewart, 18, a former Florida Atlantic University (FAU) student, has been banned from campus after posting a shooting threat on Yik Yak.
Stewart said he overheard two students talking about shooting up the school according to a police report. HE stated that he wasn't sure about the threat which is why he didn't report it to authorities.
Instead, he lied in the post and said that a friend sent him a picture of a gun and told him there would be a shooting to gauge people's reactions.
“I actually overheard the threat and didn’t want to go to the police because I was unsure, so I indirectly lied on Yik Yak and said ‘a friend texted it’ to know if people would report it even if it isn’t 100 percent sure,” explained Stewart.
Other students reported the post to the police. Stewart was not arrested when police determined that there was no threat.
