Authorities are investigating an attempted hacking incident at the school in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
IT staff revealed they found evidence of a student that tried to hack into the school's Wi-Fi network using an illegally acquired wireless key.
The intrusion was tracked down to a student at the school. When asked to turn over his phone, authorities found that the student had ties to the hacking group Anonymous.
The student was reprimanded by school rules and the local police were notified. The local police called in the state police to help with the investigation. No sensitive information or grades were changed.
Police take a dim view of Anonymous and the student might be facing a steep legal battle just for this small incident.
Recently Reuters journalist Matthew Keys was found guilty and sentenced for aiding Anonymous hack the LA Times website and was sentenced to two years in jail.
