Symantec cancels AV products

Posted by: TimW on 05/23/2013 02:48 PM [ comments Comments ]

According to an announcement on Symantec's web site, users of their products such as Spyware Doctor, Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus, and Internet Security will soon see them discontinued. Users can continue with the product until their subscriptions run out.

Symantec says that the decision is related to consolidating its product range in order to offer customers fewer but higher quality products. They are recommending that those products be replaced with Norton Internet Security.

In 2008, Symantec acquired PC Tools. It's most popular product was ThreatFire; over the last few years, however, it has only been available as part of PC Tools Internet Security.
