Safelet is a security bracelet that has been designed especially to protect girls and women from being physically attacked. But it can come in handy in any situation for everyone.
This sleek and elegant device connects to your smartphone via a free app for Android and iOS which lets you set up an account to pair up Safelet with your phone.
Once that’s done, you can invite people into your ‘guardian network’; these people will be the ones to be alerted if anything bad happens. You can also enable a feature that will automatically connect with the police as well in case of emergency.
When activated, Safelet will automatically provide details of your current location to your guardian network and the police, making it easier for them to come to your assistance if you’re in trouble.
Safelet is being developed by a team based in Amsterdam. An Indiegogo campaign to fund Safelet was launched on June 10 and the device attracted over one-tenth of its $40,000 goal in only two days.
The Indiegogo campaign will run till July 24 and contributors who pledge their support can benefit from various perks, including getting their own Safelet device at a discounted price.
