An Illinois high school student admits that he had planned on killing his classmate for over a year; the 19 year old posted his threat on Facebook and was quickly arrested as he entered school the day after the post.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Thomas Braasch, 19, of Alsip has been charged with disorderly conduct for threatening his fellow student at Shepard High School in Palos Heights, records show. He appeared in bond court Sunday.
Assistant State’s Attorney Anthony Gattuso said Braasch was stopped immediately when he arrived at school Thursday, the day after the threat was allegedly made. He was taken to an office and searched.
The school was alerted by several students who saw the threat online, court records show.
Braasch did not have a weapon when he was searched, Gattuso said, but officials did find a phone Braasch had allegedly stolen from a Costco wholesale store.
Gattuso said the teen told the school’s staff he planned to kill his classmate, and he allegedly told police he was going to bring a gun to school to “pop” the other student.
Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Braasch held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
