The US and British governments have seen your naked webcam shots

As if we haven't been violated enough in the name of homeland security, (which I do believe the homeland should be secure - just question some of the methods at times) now the nude shot you fired over to that old girlfriend/boyfriend during that steamy chat session is being intercepted by the NSA. This is the latest leak from Edward Snowden.
Yahoo! was caught off guard when asked about the program dubbed 'Optic Nerve' which directly targeted their users between 2008 and 2010 - even if the user was not considered to be a legitimate intelligence target.
Yahoo! has called this invasion of privacy a “whole new level of violation”.

The Hacker News clarifies that the program didn’t target individual users; rather it targeted Yahoo webcam chats specifically. Indeed, the method of collection appears somewhat reckless, in just six months alone, the still images of about 1.8 million users were captured and stored in the government servers in 2008.
Instead of saving full videos, the program logged one image every five minutes from a user's chat. The document says that between 3 and 11 percent of the images taken contain "undesirable nudity."
One GCHQ document states, "It would appear that a surprising number of people use webcam conversations to show intimate parts of their body to the other person."
According to The Guardian, British surveillance agency GCHQ collected and stored millions of still images from Yahoo webcam chats with the aid of the U.S. National Security Agency
What to do with NSA has become a dilemma for the President. The four choices Obama has been presented with, according to multiple news sources were, were leaked to the DC press this week:
-Phone companies retain the data.
-Another government agency retains the data, such as the FBI
-A non-telecommunications/non-government agency retains the data. Our comment….redacted
-Scrap the program. A daring proposal, but come on, this one’s a pipe dream.
Our friend over at aNewDomain goes on to say that if you think that you will really know what is happening with the NSA surveillance you are living in La La land. Even if Obama makes a clear choice among the first 3 options, it will not be accountable or transparent. It is all about spin and make believe. So take what the President promises with a grain of salt and watch what really happens.
Reacting to the Guardian’s revelation on Thursday that UK surveillance agency GCHQ swept up millions of Yahoo users’ webcam chats, senators Ron Wyden, Mark Udall and Martin Heinrich said in a joint statement that “any involvement of US agencies in the alleged activities reported today will need to be closely scrutinized”.
