Three Chinese men were recently arrested for suspicion of stealing 240 iPhone 6 smartphones—valued at just shy of $230,000—from a warehouse in Beijing.
The thieves didn't brandish guns or walk in the front door. They dug a 20 inch hole to tunnel into the warehouse. According to Xinhua's report, the men spent the money on "cars, gold, and gambling." They were picked up by police in late December after authorities were able to use the serial numbers on the stolen phones to track down the robbers.
Though Apple has managed to cut the time it takes to deliver an iPhone from weeks to days in China, the "grey market" for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones continues to flourish as a result of the "sheer number of potential buyers," notes AppleInsider.
