Apparently this seller seems really sure they struck gold. So, will someone actually pay over $100,000 for a iPhone prototype? Here's the latest update:

"On Oct-06-14 at 08:47:37 PDT, seller added the following information:
Due to the overwhelming popularity of this auction I have been forced to add these revisions.

1) ****By stating that the device is a prototype, I am starting that the device is guaranteed to be a device that was not meant for the consumer market to receive. It is running a software called SwitchBoard which is an internal testing application meant only for Apple to have access to. The red charging port is typical for any prototype device. BY BIDDING ON THIS DEVICE YOU ARE ACCEPTING THESE TERMS. If you have already placed a bid and would like it retracted for that reason please contact me directly. Otherwise your bid is binding.****
2) I have received many messages about the device not being brand new in the box. The box has been opened for the photos of the device as well as to plug it in to iTunes to confirm that the device is working.

Cleared $100,000 within under 6 hours after we said it would. That was fast.

The price of iPhones on Ebay (especially the Plus) are fetching some big bucks and this Ebay seller tried to get in on the action selling an iPhone 6 prototype. Bidding has had 107 bids reaching over $62,000 at the time I wrote this. Obviously people are having fun with the 1 feedback seller who just joined Ebay in 2013. Hopefully the seller isn’t holding his or her breath waiting for that PayPal transfer.

The auction states:

We are starting to think the seller has no idea they are being punked because on Sunday, October 5th they posted the following update:

"I would like to reiterate that this phone is being sold in As-Is condition. The only reason you may return this device is if the device arrives DOA. If you are the current high bidder and this is a problem please contact me and I will remove your bid. I have plugged the device into itunes and itunes recognizes the device as an iPhone."
