According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft is expected to release its "Project Spartan" lightweight browser in its next public preview of Windows 10, probably before the end of March.

Neil Broadley, a director of phones marketing at Microsoft, stated that the pre-release is for developers to play with the code to start coding extensions for the new browser.
"It's designed to adapt to whatever device it's running on: a phone, a tablet, or a larger desktop PC," Broadley said.
To support legacy code, Windows 10 will still ship with Internet Explore 11 as well as Spartan.
