Virus Shield a scam on Google Play

What’s worse than finding you have been scammed? How about paying for it first!







A security app called Virus Shield that was in the Google Play list for Android promised one-tap security protection. As first reported by Android Police, Security Shield didn't actually protect anything.

More than 10,000 people paid $4 for the privilege of downloading the app before it was pulled. And it didn't do anything except show a button that changed from an "X" to a check mark.

It could have been worse. It could have tried pilfering user data or downloaded malware onto a user's handset.
