What happened to Google Glass?

John Dvorak has an interesting article up called “Rest in Peace, Google Glass: 2012-2014” that highlights what little we hear about Google Glass when just a year ago you couldn’t avoid it.
I, like John was never a fan of the idea. In an age of shrinking privacy, I don’t want to be recorded unless someone has my consent. It just seems like a personal privacy thing. They also came across as nothing but an expensive toy, at best. I saw numerous videos and they all reminded me of what a reality TV show was, if reality TV was real; boring. I saw boring videos of people driving, taking off on airplanes or just testing where they could get away with it, like casinos for example.
Personally, it’s as exciting as a watch to me and I LOVE tech. I was never a watch guy but since we all carry cell phones I have been confused as to why I need to have numerous gadgets on me that my smartphone can already do. In other words, why would I carry a smartphone, wear a smartwatch and put on Google Glass?
So, where are all the glassholes now? Did they realize that they already have a recording device in their pocket? Did they finally figure out that maybe having Glass next to your brain might not be a good idea? Did they get sick of people not liking being recorded? Were people getting headaches from the one eye looking up and to the right?
Got me, but until today I was glad to have not heard about it lately.

Here's my favorite parody video and it is NSFW:
