What should you do when you see a bear in Yosemite?

What do you do when you are hiking in the woods and see a bear? Should you run, back away slowly and avoid eye contact or option 3, get out your camera or phone and take a selfie with the bear?

U.S. Forest Service officials in Lake Tahoe have issued a new warning against taking selfies with wild bears. Seems like a stupid thing to have to warn about, but apparently some park goers think it is a cool shot for social media.

The popular site is Taylor Creek where both visitors and bears gather each year when the fall Kokanee salmon are spawning.

Lisa Herron, spokesperson for the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, said: "We've had mobs of people that are actually rushing toward the bears trying to get a 'selfie' photo."

Because of the danger and the popularity of visitors trying to take "selfies", the US Park service said the site may be closed down.

"It is presenting a safety issue. We are afraid someone is going to get attacked," she said.
