Patrick Stapleton, of Ashland, Va., thought that it would be funny to shoot his friend in the buttocks with a BB gun, only he grabbed a .40 caliber handgun instead.
CBS Baltimore reports that just before 4 am, Stapleton grabbed the .40 caliber handgun, and fired one round at the victim while he slept, striking him in the buttocks area.
The handgun is legally owned by the homeowner’s son, who was not determined to be involved in the shooting. The actual homeowner was not present during the incident.
The victim remains at Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Stapleton was charged with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, the investigation is on going.
I have always said that nothing good happens after midnight, and this turned out to be one big pain in the buttocks for all involved.
