McDonald's, the fast food giant, announced that half of all US touch purchase transactions are now made using Apple Pay.
You might think that Apple Pay users would more likely spend their dollars at Whole Foods rather than McDonalds, but actually they are doing both. Whole Foods said it has processed 150,000 Apple Pay transactions in the three weeks since Apple Pay launched in the US.
Walgreens, the pharmacy, also reported that it had seen mobile wallet payments double since iPay hit the stores.
Denée Carrington, an analyst at Forrester Research, said: "Quite frankly, a lot of it has to do with the strength of the Apple brand and how much merchants and customers love how easy the experience is. I’m not saying it’s changing the landscape overnight, but this has never happened with other mobile wallets.”
Apple Pay has not been as easy as might be reported. Users have been hit with a "double bonk" bug which has seen some people charged twice.
