French ISP Iliad, which goes by the consumer name Free, made a bid last week to buy U.S. wireless carrier T-Mobile.
Japanese carrier Softbank's made a bid of $32 billion in an attempt to merge Sprint and T-Mobile. Iliad, on the other hand, is offering $15 billion up front to buy 56.5 percent of the company: $13 billion financed through debt and $2 billion in equity.
Currently, T-Mobile is owned by the German company Deutsche Telekom.
There is a strong possibility that Iliad's offer is likely to skate smoothly through the regulatory process, unlike AT&T's unsuccessful attempt at a take over last year.
