Microsoft Windows 10 upgrades will be available for free during the first year in an effort to offset the initial lofty price tag. But it gets better - the free price extends to upgrades for Windows 7, 8.1 for a full year as well.
Microsoft's Terry Myerson made the announcement with a vision of a more unified Windows — a world where asking "What version are you running" no longer makes sense. "We need our work in the hands of our customers." he said. Giving it away for free sounds like a good start.
We touched on this back in January when Myerson originally made the statement, but with the now confirmed release this summer it made sense to mention it again. Free!
In a blog post, Myerson confirms that "Windows 10 will be available this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages."
