There has been a fair amount of confusion as to when, how and who gets Windows 10 when it releases July 28th.
Tuesday night, July 28th at Midnight, Microsoft officially releases Windows 10. We know the software will roll out in various stages starting with Windows Insiders and then moving to preorders. The whole idea is to make sure that everything goes smoothly by being able to address any issues with the release early on if any problems are reported by Insiders. There’s a good chance that you might not get your upgraded until later in the week but be patient, that’s actually a good thing. In our opinion, I would not rush to put windows 10 on in case there are any early kinks so the first week of August seems like a better plan.
Windows 10 also brings back the upgrade, something most of us have avoided for many years now. Typically upgrading is scary and most geeks opt for a clean install but we have confidence that Microsoft is all over the upgrade path. After all we also know that upgrades are the future of Windows, not completely new versions every year.
If you want to do a clean install, Microsoft is selling Windows 10 for $119 but OEM versions like Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64 Bit System Builder OEM | PC Disc
are available from Amazon.

Update: So far, mostly so good. While you always have haters, the feedback on Windows 10 seems mostly positive. People seem to be having good luck upgrading but there are always a few people with problems, myself included. I didn’t have the tray icon and my errors went from “you don’t qualify” to a partition error. I tweeted" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/majorgeeks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">tweeted Microsoft who basically sent me to a link that was a driver issue so it seems Microsoft Support basically sucks. I think if you have the tray icon you will be ok, otherwise I still think waiting a couple weeks is a good idea. Since no one seems to be able to fix my error I am opting for a clean install eventually. Good luck!
