It seems people running Windows 7 are recently getting an 80248015 error code and unable to complete Windows Updates.
On the Microsoft Answers forum it appears that C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\AuthCabs\authcab.cab contains an XML file called authorization.xml that has an expiration of 12/3/2017. If you try to update windows after this time, then Windows Update fails because this file is expired.
Because it's Windows, there's always more than one fix. You have two choices:
1: You can set your clock back to before December 3rd, run Windows update and set the clock back to the correct date.
2: Go to Windows Update settings and uncheck "Give me updates for Microsoft products and check for new optional Microsoft software when I update Windows."
Most likely Microsoft will address this with a hotfix, possibly December 12th, the next Patch Tuesday. (Thanks, bhringer)
