Windows Activation Scam Revisited (Video)

A few days ago we reported about a new ransomware/tech support scam that locks your screen and asks for a product key to activate your system.

The scam provides a telephone number to call if you can't activate your system. If you call, you will be asked to pay $99. Click anywhere on the screen and a voice will tell you to call the number.

Researchers have been delving into the malware and discovered an unlock key hidden in the source code. What they found was if you enter closecloseclosecloseclose (five times without spaces) it should unlock. If it doesn't, reboot.

There is a second way to remove this scam. Reboot into safe mode and scan your pc with Malwarebytes, who first found the scam.
